The Smithsonian Channel reveals the history of the National Park Service’s first 100 years for the service’s August 25th anniversary with a new documentary, America’s National Parks at 100, debuting on August 28th at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The documentary will showcase the history of America’s first national parks and their modern benefit to both visitors and scientists, as well as showing off individual Americans’ contributions to the idea of conserving large portions of our land and history for ourselves and our posterity. Scroll through the gallery above for a taste of what the Smithsonian Channel has developed, then see below for a gallery of all 50 states from another Smithsonian Channel show, Aerial America.
