Drop and Bosch have partnered to build a truly smart kitchen.

Those with a Bosch Series 8 oven can now remotely monitor its time, temperature, and settings via the Drop Recipes app. Eventually, however, the partnership will extend to other kitchen gadgets.

Imagine if your blender understood the recipe for your favorite smoothie. Or if your oven automatically turned off when your food was finished cooking. “Or even being able to filter your recipes by what you have in your smart fridge,” Drop CEO Ben Harris said. “These ideas no longer seem fantastical. Your kitchen will be smarter.”

No timeline was released for the rollout of additional features, and it remains unclear which appliances will get integration with which functions. As Harris points out, Bosch is only Drop’s first partner.

“By adding the intuitive recipe experience that Drop has created to our products, it will allow us to continue to drive product innovation forward and make cooking a truly stress-free and seamless experience,” said Johannes Müller, head of Bosch Home Appliances global brand communication.

Drop launched its iPad-connected kitchen scale in June 2014. Boasting non-slip silicon molding and accuracy to a quarter of a gram, the $80 gadget lets users interact with recipes as they cook. When synced with a mobile device, the scale taps into Drop’s proprietary recipe platform, which walks folks through the cooking process as they measure ingredients and perform other duties.
